Why Being Stubborn Is A Bad Trait For An Investor
As with all other decisions in life being stubborn is a choice that people make during the course of their lives. Although being stubborn can be advantageous in certain instances for the investor it is more of a disadvantage.
To begin with, being stubborn is considered a sign of immaturity. This means that most business minded people will tend to avoid people with this character flaw. The same applies for lending institutions because there are very few of them that have the man power to dedicate to stubborn investors.
In the commerce arena, the element of flexibility goes without say because this is the only way a business will be able to grow and prosper. Therefore, if an investor is stubborn the chances that the trade will stagnate are greatly increased.
For many of the investors who are classified as being stubborn, one of the major draw backs is the fact that they refuse to change with the times. Such business owners prefer to stick to the tried and tested methods of doing business as long as the profits keep coming in. This might sound like a plus, but the down side is that the establishment could be over taken by competitors within the industry, that have opted to take on advancements in their sector of the economy.
The other negative aspect of being stubborn is the fact that major opportunities could be missed. Whether these are small opportunities for change within the company, or major financial ones being stubborn could cost the company financially and otherwise.
Being a stubborn investor goes hand in hand with poor decision making. This is a direct consequence of being unwilling to learn, which could be disastrous for the business. As mentioned earlier, it is imperative that an investor be flexible enough to try out new avenues for the business in order to remain relevant.
This does not mean that all the ideas which have brought the establishment thus far should be abandoned. On the contrary, these business models can be combined with other modern alternatives that will be beneficial to the business and the investor.
When an investor is being stubborn, chances are that the emotional verdicts are being made, which could prove disastrous for the company. Stubborn people can cost the company quite a bit, but it is up to the shrewd manager to know how to handle such people.
For the individual that has the misfortune of dealing with such a business person, there are various avenues that can be used in order to get the stubborn investor to budge from their irrational stand point. This includes pointing out the growth pattern that the business should follow, without deviating from the ideals of yore that the investor is still holding on to.
Stubborn investors are generally difficult to deal with and unwilling to learn new things or try out new ideas. This does not mean that they can not be dealt with from a business perspective, but a strategic plan on how to counter their stubborn nature should be firmly in place.
